Nintendo 2DS Going Transparent This November

Remember the transparent purple Game Boy Color? This one? I do, because I have one.

When I saw Nintendo’s announcement for this one, my mind pretty much shot back to the days when I would squint at the mini screen and watch Super Mario hop around.

While these beauties are infinitely more different, I can’t help but reminisce. And I think I might just buy one solely for the nostalgia.

It’s been almost a year since the release of the first Nintendo 2DS, and these new ones, in Transparent Red and Transparent Blue, will hit European retailers on November 7th. No price has been disclosed as yet. Aside from the side paneling, both offerings are transparent in design, revealing the skeleton of the system underneath both the front and back of the system casing.

If you’re unfamiliar with the 2DS, it plays the same games as a 3DS, minus the 3D display, with a slightly different design.

With so many editions of the 2DS, 3DS, and 3DS XL releasing this fall, how is anyone supposed to choose? Paired with the bizarre timing—with Nintendo’s New 3DS releasing soon—how successful do you think these will be?

I remember my first Nintendo was way back in the late 1980s early 1990s. I remember my first portable Nintendo. How awesome they look now.
I would love to see a post about your favorite games and a post about advice for girl gamers especially new ones. I have my Xbox live membership but I am terrified to play publicly because of all the flak that girl gamers gets.
