The world’s first next-gen consoles in gold are set to be unveiled at Gamer14, the Middle East’s largest gaming convention, which runs until tomorrow, September 13th. If you’re a gamer with a ton of money lying around—$13,699 or Dh49,999, to be exact—now’s your chance to
waste use it.
“With the Middle East gaming market estimated to be worth over $1billion according to Gartner, events such as Games14 play a crucial role in connecting game developers, console manufacturers and vendor-partners with end-users, and help to leverage the growing potential of gaming in the region,” said Nadeem Khanzadah, Head-Retail at Jumbo Electronics.
“We are particularly excited to be launching the most unique and valuable gaming consoles in the world at Games14, specially created by Gatti. Available to both Xbox and PS4 fans, the high-end materials and exquisite detailing of the gold consoles make it a great collectible item for gamers who love luxury.”
No word on how many have been made, but the special consoles feature a rose gold case created by renowned Italian jeweler Gatti, and will be available for sale at the gaming show.
Well, there’s that. While many of us can’t afford the ‘cheaper’ version of the PS4/Xbox One, they’ve amped up the price by more than 3000% and something tells me they’ll sell however many of these they’ve made. Sure, the price is for the gold, but is something this ridiculous really necessary?
